Of all the assets a good business person has an often overlooked and under-utilized asset is a network of trusted people with whom you can go to with needs. A good network of people who are connected can be leveraged into many opportunities.
Stop right now and make a list of your top five referral partners, network partners, or personal relationships in business. Now ask yourself this question: Where would you be without them? Really drill down and think about your top clients. Did any of them come from connections that your top referral partners were able to give you?
What about that great deal you were able to get on new office equipment because your friend “knew a guy”?
That is why business people are often times only as successful as the relationship they have with the contacts in their rolodex. It really is all about who you know and who knows you. And that is why it is important to have a network of trusted people.
What has your network made possible for you? Let us know below.

Great observations and agreed often overlooked as an intangible asset. Beyond helping with every day operations, this group can become your board of directors, your own training resource. The only caveat is you must be able to return the favor. – Leanne Hoagland-Smith, Increase Sales Coach
It's better to give first, and refrain from keeping score. I have found that giving first, creates a culture of giving in those who surround me.
Leanne,
I like your ability to recognize the need to be able to return the favor. Networking is very much so a two way street!

My network consistently makes me the best I can be for my individual & organizational clients by recommending me to other talented people that I need to know at any given time.
